AMD Q3 2026 Earnings: Record $13.4 Billion Revenue, Data Center Nearly Doubles and Guidance Implies 66% Growth
- Revenue: a record $13.38 billion, up 45% year over year, above estimates and the top of AMD's own August forecast range.
- Adjusted EPS: $2.09, up 74%. GAAP diluted EPS was $1.46.
- Data Center: $8.5 billion, nearly double a year earlier and up 27% from Q2, on early MI450 AI accelerator shipments and server CPU growth.
- Outlook: management said Q4 guidance implies roughly 50% sequential data-center growth; the midpoint implies about 66% year-over-year total revenue growth.
- AMD expects data center to be more than 80% of revenue in 2027. Shares rose after hours and helped lift chip stocks on November 3.
A record quarter
AMD delivered the AI-chip beat investors were hoping for after Tuesday's close.

Revenue beat both Wall Street's estimates and the top of the range AMD had given in August. Shares rose in after-hours trading, and AMD helped lift chip stocks on Tuesday, when Nvidia and Broadcom gained 2%–3% and the iShares Semiconductor ETF rose about 2.5%.
What drove it: MI450 and servers
The Data Center segment did the heavy lifting. Sales rose 27% from the second quarter, mainly from:
- Early shipments of the MI450, AMD's newest Instinct AI accelerator, built to compete with Nvidia's GPUs for training and running large AI models.
- EPYC server processors, as cloud companies and enterprises upgraded data centers.
The guidance is the real story
Management said the fourth-quarter outlook implies roughly 50% sequential growth in Data Center. The midpoint of total revenue guidance implies about 66% year-over-year growth. AMD also expects Data Center to make up more than 80% of its revenue in 2027.
In other words, AMD is turning into an AI data-center company. That's a very different business from the PC and gaming chipmaker of a few years ago.
The risks
- Customer concentration. A large share of AI accelerator demand comes from a handful of cloud and AI companies. If any of them slows spending, AMD feels it.
- AI spending scrutiny. Wednesday's selloff in AI data-center stocks after the US midterms (our report) shows how quickly sentiment can turn on worries about rules or financing. Our explainer on who pays for AI capex covers where the money comes from.
- Nvidia. AMD is still the challenger. Nvidia's results later this month will set the tone for the whole sector.
- Valuation. Growth like this is priced in. A merely good quarter can send the stock down.
What it means for investors
- AI chips remain the earnings engine of the market. AMD's beat followed strong cloud spending numbers from Microsoft and Alphabet last week (coverage).
- You may already own a lot of it. AMD and Nvidia are large holdings in S&P 500, Nasdaq-100 and semiconductor ETFs.
- Diversify the bet. Rather than picking one chipmaker, a broad semiconductor ETF holds designers, equipment makers and foundries. See how to invest in AI without picking winners.
What to watch next
- Mid-November: Nvidia's quarterly results.
- MI450 ramp: Customer announcements and supply updates.
- AI regulation: Any moves by the new Congress on data-center rules or chip exports.
Frequently asked questions
How much revenue did AMD report in Q3 2026?
AMD reported record revenue of $13.38 billion for the third quarter of 2026, up 45% from a year earlier and above both analyst estimates and the top of the range the company gave in August.
How did AMD's data center business do?
Data Center revenue was about $8.5 billion, nearly double a year earlier and up 27% from the second quarter, driven by early shipments of the MI450 AI accelerator and growth in EPYC server processors.
What is AMD's guidance for Q4 2026?
Management said its fourth-quarter outlook implies roughly 50% sequential growth in Data Center. The midpoint of total revenue guidance implies about 66% year-over-year growth.
What is the AMD MI450?
The MI450 is AMD's newest Instinct AI accelerator, designed for training and running large AI models in data centers. It competes with Nvidia's AI GPUs and began early shipments in the third quarter of 2026.
Is AMD stock a buy after earnings?
RiskStock doesn't give buy or sell recommendations. AMD's results show strong AI demand, but the stock already prices in fast growth and is sensitive to any slowdown in AI spending. Owning a broad semiconductor or technology ETF spreads that risk.
