Novo Nordisk Raises Its Outlook a Third Time as Wegovy Pill Sales Hit $810 Million: Is the Turnaround Real?

Key numbers
  • Guidance raised (third time): 2026 adjusted sales and operating profit growth of -2% to +2% at constant exchange rates, up from -6% to 0%.
  • Wegovy pill: DKK 5.39 billion (~$810 million) in Q3, up 53% from Q2 and above the DKK 4.62 billion consensus.
  • Injectable Wegovy: DKK 20.4 billion, down 2% at constant currency. Combined US Wegovy sales rose 21%.
  • Q3 adjusted sales: DKK 79.2 billion, up 4% at constant currency; adjusted operating profit up 27% to DKK 31.7 billion.
  • Shares rose about 3%–6% in Copenhagen, still down about 13% this year. CEO Mike Doustdar warned a turnaround can't be established on one strong quarter.

A better quarter for Novo

Novo Nordisk, the Danish maker of Ozempic and Wegovy, reported third-quarter results on Wednesday, November 4, and raised its full-year outlook for the third time this year.

Metric Q3 2026
Adjusted sales DKK 79.2 billion (+4% at CER)
Adjusted operating profit DKK 31.7 billion (+27%)
Wegovy pill DKK 5.39 billion (~$810 million), +53% q/q
Injectable Wegovy DKK 20.4 billion (-2% at CER)

Shares rose as much as about 6% in Copenhagen before paring gains to around 3%. They're still down about 13% for the year. Novo's results helped lift European stocks on a day already buoyed by the US midterms (our report).

The pill is working

The star was oral Wegovy, the pill version of Novo's obesity drug. Sales of DKK 5.39 billion beat the DKK 4.62 billion consensus and grew 53% from the second quarter.

Pills matter because many patients prefer them to weekly injections, and they are easier to manufacture and distribute at scale.

The guidance

Novo now expects 2026 adjusted sales growth and adjusted operating profit growth of -2% to +2% at constant exchange rates, up from -6% to 0%.

That still means a roughly flat year. Novo is coming off a tough stretch of price cuts, competition from Eli Lilly and a leadership change.
